Where you wanna go on the map? (2x)
The study of the Earth: Geography
Physical features of the land: Geography
Limited resources in demand: Geography
How the population expands: Geography (2x)
The way land is shaped is topography
Mountains isolate, a harbor is by the sea
Geography affects the economy
Along with the climate environmentally
The first civilizations in river valleys
Tigris and Euphrates: Mesopatami-a
Today that’s the Middle East
Part of the Fertile Crescent geography
In Africa the Nile River long as can be
In China the Yellow River
Also called the Huang He
Rivers kept the land fertile, farming was the business
In India and Pakistan that river is the Indus
Now let’s take a minute to talk geographic regions
Some have the same climate year-round, some have different seasons
A desert dry and arid, erosion in the badlands
Prairies good for grazing, savannahs open grasslands
It’s humid in the tropics where you can find rain forests
But these days slash and burn farming is their destroyer
Region affects the people and the people have to adapt
In order to live off the land when the land was all they had

I put the image in your mind with literal raps
Peep geographic landmarks on a physical map
Atlas of the world you know I keep it close by
Continental outline: Check irregular coastlines
Natural harbors safe from the ocean’s force
Good for boats if it’s a warm water port
Florida’s a peninsula but what does that mean?
It’s surrounded by water on sides numbering 3
An island is confined by water on all sides
An archipelago’s a chain of islands look like the Hawaiians
All that water around means it’s probably good for shipping
A narrow land strip across the water’s called an isthmus
Connecting two bigger landmasses does this feature
The way Americas have Panama and Costa Rica
Fish where there’s water, farm where it’s fertile
But how do people overcome geographic hurdles?
Mountainous landscape makes it tough for crop starting
But look how the Japanese and Incans used terrace farming
Technology makes living possible in weird places
And to get water where there ain’t any via irrigation
